Welcome to Rustic Holidays! Situated in the tranquil village of Tural in the Sangmeshwar taluka of Ratnagiri District along the Mumbai – Goa Highway, our homestay offers an authentic experience amidst nature’s bounty. Tural, nestled 650 feet above sea level, is renowned for its lush hills and dense forests, home to diverse flora and fauna including numerous bird species and wildlife such as wild boars, porcupines, and barking deer, enhancing the charm of Rustic Holidays.
Meet our founders
Established in November 2003, Rustic Holidays is the brainchild of Nitin and Shilpa Karkare. With Nitin’s extensive experience in the TV industry as a freelance Film Editor and Sound Recordist, and Shilpa’s remarkable journey from homemaker to successful entrepreneur, owning one of Thane’s leading handicraft stores, Shilpa’s The Handicraft Store, we bring a wealth of expertise and passion to our venture. Through Rustic Holidays, we aim to provide guests with an immersive experience rooted in authenticity and tradition, showcasing the beauty of Kokan and supporting local artisans and communities.
Our homestay resides on the ancestral property of the Karkare Family, encompassing over 100 acres of verdant farmland and lush greenery. The historic Wada, with a rich heritage spanning over 200 years, stands as a testament to our commitment to preserving tradition. In 2017, we celebrated the 200th year of the Gokulashtami festival in our family temple, honouring our reverence for Shri Krishna, the Aaradhya Daivat of the Karkare Family. As the Khot (Chief/Deshmukh) of Tural, we take pride in our heritage and welcome you to experience the warmth of our hospitality.
